God’s Place

Here @ NBBC we feel compelled that God desires to lead us as His people toward greater intimacy with Him through the Spirit. One of the key passages for us centres around John 15, in particular verse 5 – “I am the Vine, you are the branches. When you’re joined with me and I with you, the relation intimate and organic, the harvest is sure to be abundant. Separated, you can’t produce a thing” (The Message Translation). By revelation of the Holy Spirit when we ponder the truth of God dwelling (joined, remaining) in us, we recognize with great joy that we are “God’s Place”.

Living the reality of God with us, God in us, God through us, could be seen as the following:

Generous:      extravagant givers of all that we have – money, abilities, time etc

Open:              open to learn from each other and open to God’s transformation of us

Dwell:                         dwell in the presence of God, God dwells within us

Story tellers:  Tell our story of God’s work within us. There is power in gossiping our story

Pray:               Dialogue with God, believing that God is active in the world, he hears our prayer and responds in power according to how He sees fit

Love:               Live believing we are abundantly loved by God and love others the way that Jesus demonstrated his love for us

Attentive:       that we might see and hear what God is doing and saying, both in and around us

Connect:         with each other outside of corporate gatherings alone

Enjoy:             enjoy life, laugh and have fun together

The heart’s intention behind this concept is that we, as followers of Jesus, are all God’s Place. Scripture speaks of Father, Son and Spirit coming and dwelling in each of us. We are the place He longs to be.  This places a tremendous challenge for us then as we ask, “how then shall I live?”
